It's like Christmas Eve

I'm seeing my doctor tomorrow. It is basically freakish how excited I now get by doctor's appointments. I love them like nothing else, and wish that I was going more often than once a month. I always feel like I'm visiting the baby. Today someone emailed to ask when my next appointment was and I wrote back:

Tomorrow! I can't wait!

I might as well have dotted the I's with hearts and drawn little unicorns all over the page. But you can't do that in email.

The best thing is that I actually have two appointments tomorrow: one with my doctor and one at the hospital to find out if the baby is a boy or a girl. Dear Middlesex, I hope it is not both.

Tomorrow is also my last day in the office, plus the movers are coming to get us packed. We like to keep it lively, people. And I would just like to announce that if the baby is a boy, you are all being recruited to help name him, because after several conversations about this (including the one where Rob very seriously suggested the name Achilles), I do not think we are qualified to name a boy.

For a boy, I think it should be Papa. Because Papa is THE coolest man I know.

Did the Achilles convo happen after a recent MADMEN episode?

I had a student named Achilles. He hated it. I think Spero is behind that. If you think about it, though, there are a lot of worse names from the Iliad..

Whatever happened to Agamemnon? It combines strength and originality in one name that just rolls off the tongue. And really, with a good nickname (Aga?), it works for a boy or a girl.

And yes, those appointments are just like visiting your baby! I expect an immediate text with the news.

The best boy's name ever is MYPAUL - and that's all I have to say about that!

If you keep w/ family "tradition," then Achilles Frederick has a lovely ring to it.

I cant wait to hear what he/she is!

I'm disappointed in Rob. Hector was really a lot more dignified than Achilles at the end of the day. That plus the totally bunk Brad Pitt performance guarantees that your son will be ridiculed if he is named Achilles. . . Let's all hope it's a girl!

I thought Brutefish Muffleberry was still in the running??!

He will have a good friend in Belvedere (in the case that we are having a boy, or perhaps either way), a name to which Eric is growing increasingly attached...

Can't wait to hear what sort of equipment your baby's got!

I seems like "Deuce" is a popular boys name nowadays. I also like Geronimo.
